Welcome to Liz Paonessa Photography!
I've always been surrounded by the arts, being born into a family of mostly artists. I grew up in Lyme, CT where i was known as "the girl with the camera'. Constantly photographing every memory, I was excited to follow my passions to Savannah College Of Art & Design, where I received my BFA in Photography. After living in multiple cities around the country, I setteled back in Connecticut. I am always on the go and ready for where the next adventure will take me. I focus mostly on portraiture; hoping to capture the essence of one's personality. I find the best part of being a portrait photographer is the intimate relationship you create with a subject, whether you know it's happening or not.
I strongly believe in the idea of giving back to the world. In 2010 and 2012 I was honored to travel to Ghana, Africa with a medical non-profit organization called FOCOS. The Foundation of Orthopedics and Complex Spine gave me the opportunity to photograph volunteers and patients going through the process of complex spinal surgeries, most of which would save their lives. I was absolutely blown away by all the smiling faces, good-hearted spirits, and generosity of everyone involved. In the future, I hope to create projects like this to incorporate my love for portraiture with doing good deeds in the world around me.
Moving back to Connecticut has allowed me to focus on starting my own business and creating my own projects. I've gotten to have days photographing families, seniors, weddings, and other special events. I find each a new adventure, exciting in their own way.
